Jabalpur Engineering College  ( JEC ) is an institute located in Jabalpur  , Madhya Pradesh, India. It is the oldest technical institution in central India and the 15th-oldest in India.   JEC was established as the  Government Engineering College (GEC), Jabalpur , on 7 July 1947, during the British rule in India. It  is the first institute of India to have started the Electronics & Telecommunication engineering education in the country, and also the last educational institution to be set up by the British in India.   The Government of Madhya Pradesh is in the process of converting it into a Technical University.  Jubilee Ceremonies of JEC The Silver Jubilee ceremony of the institute was celebrated in 1972, in the presence of the then Education Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Arjun Singh. In India Republic Day is celebrated on 26 January every year 1950 this is the 73 Republic Day on this day De our Indian constitution came into effect in 1950 BR Ambedkar presenting the Indian Constitution he draught the Indian Constitution in 2 years 11 months and 18 days when submitted the the constitution of India to the president of the constituent assembly in 2 years to the  Doctor Rajendra Prasad on 26 November 1949 this the Indian constitution was implemented on 26th of January 1950 . Principal Dr JK Shrivastava said that college has signed an MoU with NHAI for a duration of five years where faculty and students of the college will get chance to work on projects of NHAI and also earn an stipend. UECU / Engineering College (UEC) has signed three memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Indian Institute of Integrative Medicines Jammu (IIIM) and School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) of Vikram University (VU). Now college has more than 15 such MoUs with different organisations.
